Privacy policy
Your privacy.
How we collect, use and look after your personal information.
This privacy policy explains how Slightly Different ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares your personal information when you visit our website, use our services or get in touch with us. We respect your privacy and value the information you share with us.
How we collect your information
When you use our website or social media channels, or deal with us, we may collect personal information about you. This can include your name and contact details, device information (such as your operating system), location information, log information (such as your IP address) and anything you give us yourself, for example in an enquiry or in our online forms.
We may store information, including personal information, on your device (using your browser's storage and caches), in software such as our client management systems, in the cloud, in offline backups and in hard copy.
Cookies
Like most websites, ours may use cookies. A cookie is a small file with a unique ID that your browser stores on your computer. It tells us whether you've visited before, so we can work out which parts of the site are most useful to you. A cookie doesn't give us your personal details or a way to contact you, and it doesn't take any information from your computer.
We may also use cookies to collect anonymous information about how people use our website, including through tools such as Google Analytics, and for digital advertising on platforms such as Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn. This information doesn't identify you personally.
If you'd rather not receive cookies, you can set your browser to refuse them.
Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam. When you use the form, reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and how you use the page and sends it to Google. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. What you type into the form is emailed to us, and we use it to reply to your enquiry.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other sites. We can't speak for how those sites handle privacy, and we're not responsible for their privacy policies.
Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously. We keep our systems up to date and only give access to people who have a genuine need to see it.
No way of sending or storing electronic information is ever completely secure, though, so we can't guarantee that information will never be accessed, used or released in a way this policy doesn't allow.
Why we collect, hold, use and share your information
We use your personal information to:
- contact you about your enquiry;
- provide the services you've asked us for, such as websites, hosting and domain names;
- tell you about products and services that may interest you, where you've agreed to that;
- respond to any issues you raise about our services;
- look at and improve our services; and
- run our business, including meeting our legal obligations.
We take reasonable steps to make sure the personal information we collect, use or share is accurate, complete, relevant, not misleading and up to date.
If you don't give us your information
You don't have to give us your personal information. If you don't, some of the following may happen:
- we may not be able to provide our services to you, or enter into a contract with you, either to the same standard or at all;
- we may not be able to tell you about services you may want, including special offers; or
- we may not be able to tailor our website to you, so it may be less useful.
When we share your information
We will never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
We may share your personal information with others when it's for, or directly related to, the reason you gave it to us, when the law requires or allows it, or when you've given us permission. That can include:
- anyone we need to involve to provide the services you buy from us, such as domain name registries;
- the providers who run our website, and IT providers who help keep our systems secure;
- your authorised representatives or legal advisers, when you ask us to;
- credit reporting or fraud checking agencies;
- our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors and lawyers;
- government and regulatory bodies and other organisations, where the law requires or allows it; and
- our marketing partners.
Seeing and correcting your information
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and, if it's wrong, ask us to correct it. Send your request in writing to our Privacy Officer at Unit 6B, 303 Blenheim Road, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch 8141, or email hello@slightlydifferent.co.nz.
