The Brief
Simon and the team at Uniquely Nelson came to us looking to update their previous WordPress based business directory and online news system, Nelson Advantage. They had several goals in mind, including:
- Combining the two websites into a single site, creating improved customer usability and ease of administration
- Rebuilding the business directory around a more robust, cleaner system
- Redesign the website to better reflect the vibrant nature of Nelson as both a destination and place to live
- Improve performance both from a viewer, site administration and search engine perspective
- Improve security
Our Solution
We rebuilt the site in WordPress using the brilliant GeoDirectory plug-in, with customisations to provide exactly what was needed for the business directory. The built in blog was then carefully configured to provide bot news for Uniquely Nelson, as well as a platform for Nelson Advantage.
This was wrapped in a very clean, modern and responsive web design. The design framed the beautiful photography provided by the client. An awesome video of the Nelson region was provided by HotHouse; nice work guys!
We launched the new site on one of our specialised WordPress Cloud hosting solutions. The hosting solution is a customised and highly tuned web hosting stack for WordPress, which provides security and performance.
